I’ve owned my home since July 2002. When I bought the home, I had a termite company inspect and treat (?…drilled holes in front & back porch & areas of the slab foundation and-I think-put in chemicals to keep termites away). I’ve never had termites, and I continue to pay a little under 0 for a yearly inspection by the same company. This year, the cost has been raised to 0. Is it worth it to keep having the yearly inspection when all the guy appears to do is walk around looking at the inside and outside of my home. What do I need to know about termite control so that I can justify continuing to pay for this service?  Read More →

We’ve already had it laid but the electrician never used matting. The cabling used was industrial and not domestic like the sort you get in B&Q..could this be the reason that matting was put down first off. Bob it is laid in a bathroom where the floor is very cold to walk on.. we have tried everything believe me it is freezing.  Read More →

My bed is not only directly under the window but also facing my closet door in the coffin position and I don’t know how I could rearrange it so that I’m not under a window or facing a door. If you could give me any tips on how to move my bed or rearrange a little so my current bed position is ok then i would really appreciate it. heres a link to a pic of how the layout of my room looks. Thanks to anyone who answers this! http://s640.photobucket.com/albums/uu126/whoever_123/?action=view&current=room.jpg  Read More →

As part of my purchase contract I have spent 0 for a thorough home inspection of a duplex. Now that we learned of the termite infestation and wood rot, you’d think i’m out of there, but I’m still interested in the property IF, IF I can be sure to ELIMINATE the TERMITES & determine the extent of damage, and get ALL the rot taken care of at the SELLERS EXPENSE. How do I proceed? Am I expecting too much? The seller seems to be prepared to correct the problems — What’s he best approach since we don’t really know yet the extent of the damage. will professional termite treatment really eliminate ALL termites currently infecting building, and keep new from...

I’m having the basement waterproofed on the inside of the house where they remove the cement floor 18"-20" around the perimiter. After taking down panelling from a wall which leaks, the block is collapsing & there are huge cracks. Would it be easier to fix this problem from the inside or outside of the house? Thank you.  Read More →
