I am very much in the dark, and have not yet seen a termite report, but the amount of money sounds like an actual treatment is to be done. We are about to purchase a property in a very good neighbourhood. The house is old and we pretty much bought for block value. We are planning on living there for 5 years and then building a new house on the block. We have just received the termite report and I am wanting some opinions and clarification on the following (please!) : No live termites were found, no visible damage etc was found, however he has ticked the ‘yes’ box which says ‘evidence of possible previous termite treatment found’ also that termite shields/barriers are generally ‘inadequate’ ….. I have been looking for a home for several months now. Finally one of my offers was accepted, but the termite inspection found termites. The total of the repairs is ,390 and the seller is required to pay for repairs. I’ve heard that it is only minor damage, but should I still buy the house. The seller of the particular unit claims the HOA imust pay for the inspection. The HOA asserts that since the inspection is triggered only by the sale of the unit the seller must pay.
